At the weekend I was out for a dew drinks with some German friends that were visiting Dublin.  I love Germany particularly Berlin its a fantastic city and great people….or so I thought.

During drunken discussions about colors (don’t ask) the most shocking statement I can imagine was uttered by one German friend “PurPur……but we don’t use that word we just call it red”.  PurPur is the German for purple and apparently Germany has abandoned using this word.

WTF!

So Barney the dinosaur was red was he?  Was he fuck!  How can you abandon a color?

I’m shattered!

I’ve been working every day for the last 2 weeks and I am so fed up with the project I’m on.  The work is good and I’m learning alot but the problem remains to be the politics and red tape that is evident everywhere on this project.
Problems are recognised but paperwork must be done before any change is implemented, problems are found and ‘the blame game’ begins.  Its such a shame and its probably the worst run project I’ve been on so far…
I finish this project next week and return to Ireland, it will be nice to be back for a while.  College is starting up again so I have to get stuck into that again and I need to achieve CCNA status quickly.

I’ve been getting on well with the people I’m working with and I’ve discovered problems and fixed issues.  However the other day  I made a mistake, without getting too technical the node I was using was creating a conflict…..this in turn caused a routing issue.  Luckily it was an easy fix but I wish I noticed it before saying it was not my node’s problem.  Mistakes will be made I’m only human but its a stark reminder that I need to tripple check issues.

Next week I’ve got a house party to go to on Friday, so I shall be celebrating the end of the project.  Who knows I may even have a drink or two………..probably way more!

I played a gig last night in the Ginmill and it was by far our best gig yet.  You know your on fire when people request songs you’ve never practiced before and you play them right through.  Its a very rare thing but the feeling is great.  The pub itself was packed, first time a lot my friends had come to see us play and got thankfully we got positive reviews.  Particularly proud of seeing a drunk friend dancing and singing to us playing ‘The Boys are Back in Town’, all in all a very memorable night!

Kickback City 29th August 09

The gig (for the band at least) started around 8 o clock when we have to lug all the equipment into the van and then set up down in the pub.  We were able to a have a few bottles of Heineken in the alley before we setup, a real nice band tradition is forming :D   So at this stage of the night I can drink but as soon as the gig is over 1 drop of beer and I’m legless!  I end up drinking water for the entire night.  This happened last night and I was shocked how rock n roll makes people so drunk…..I presume it was rock n roll anyway.  I had women hanging onto my arm for dear life walking to the nightclub, as soon as they let go they would stumble and fall.  Later on previous drunken friend decided she needed to attack me and the root of her attack was focused solely on my nose.  In between attacks she realised there was music and had a little dance and it was funny for a while but the attacks grew tiring.

Anyway Im semi-ranting because this phenomenon of not being able to drink after gigs is pretty annoying and I presume its down to sweating profusely throughout the gig.  The lights really take it out of me, the heat of three of these bad boys is way too much.

Oh the heat....

Oh the heat....

I ordered some new lights tonight, LED lights that even come with a case!  Oh the luxury!  Hopefully with these new lights I will be able to drink a nice pint after a gig!

New lights that will bring Happy Pints!!!
