Its been a while since my last post so a quick update is in order..

  • Finished the second year of my Masters.  Again was under immense pressure to get reports and labs completed and had little time to study for exams.  I just hope I passed!
  • I went to Stockholm for a quick trip for work, it was very interesting and I finally got to see the main headquarters.  Stockholm is a fantastic city, I was very impressed but the cost of living there is quite high.
  • I’m now working in Rabat, Morocco.  I’ve been here for nearly a week now and only 4 weeks left to go, I’m counting down the days.  Its not that I dont like the place the project is extremely laborious and I hate being dropped in the middle of projects were you are expected to start running from a standstill.  To make matters worse I’m doing work I have not been assigned to do, to say the least I’m angry about this.  It happens and I’m expected to deal with it but it is a horrible way to work.
  • I was planning on taking part in SoFoMoBo seeing as I was in a foreign country and all but its proving impossible to take photos while I’m here.  I might get a day sometime before I leave and try get all the photos I need but I can’t do a photo a day deal.

Right thats the end of the updates lets get onto something less depressing.  A very good friend of mine got a tattoo yesterday and I think its really cool.

While its not the most original tattoo in the world (I know a good few girls that have a star tattoo) it is a very cool tattoo and the only tattoo thats acceptable on a girl.  Made me think what would I get and where?  Its difficult to get a tattoo if your a guy cause its very easy to get a tattoo then one day your in your 40s with a hairy chest and a stupid tattoo of your favorite football club on your arm or something.

Guys can’t have cool tattoos, guys with emo tattoos are gonna look stupid when they turn 40…..what am I saying they look stupid now.  I remember contemplating getting a Metallica tattoo but there is no originality in that.  It would be nice to have a tattoo that showed I’ve lived a little.  I mean I travel a lot but I’m not coming back changed and trolling on about my experiences abroad, clearly I have none :)  MaybeI should get a Henna tattoo or something while I’m here…..

So Reader! What tattoo would you get and where?  Answers on a post card addressed to Rabat or post a comment to forgo the millions of stamps required to reach this place!

My little holiday is over and I’m sitting on an aer lingus plane back to the uk as I am writing this.

I always try sit near the back of the plane because if it crashes, statistically you are more likely to survive. years of watching air crash investigation has proven this over and over.

However today I am sitting one row behind the emergency exit at the wing; 25F to be exact. it’s alright I feel some pressure being so close to the wing exit but at least it’s not my responsiblity to open it in the case of an emergency. I’m pretty sure I’d be like father ted good under pressure but up until the pressure arises I would be a nervous wreck. (post fr ted clip)

I get quite sad when I’m on a plane and penny lane is not doing the safety demonstration…or at least mocking it. God damn I love almost famous.
that film makes me sad all the time, I could see a band t-shirt think about rock n roll then remember I’m not William miller or anyone in stillwater.

Anyway I’m being asked to turn off my phone so I will fancy up this post later on when Im not restricted to the iPhones capabilities.
I’ll post pictures of the plane and fr ted video to illustrate
my mindset on planes and emergency exits/buttons ooooooooooooooooo

I have a flight back to Manchester in 6 hrs time, so I have to get a bus to the airport in 4 hours time.  Every week I do this you would think I’d have learned by now!  Anyways, I have an important day tomorrow, the node I have been working on is getting inspected and tested so I have been up studying and fixing a jumpstart server in case things go not so well.  I’m confident but better safe than sorry.

Moleskins

Moleskins

All these trips to the airport has developed a fetish for moleskin journals.  I now have one for work, one for a diary and one just to fill with what ever nonsense is in my head.  I highly recommend these journals.  They are great to use on a plane and serve as a good information backup.  Computers can’t always be trusted.  I can’t believe in 4 hrs  time I will be in the airport, sipping a Caramel Machiato and writing in my journals while most people shall be sound asleep.

Lucky gits!

A Lot of good vibes have been coming from the websites engadget and gizmodo over how good the Windows 7 Beta is, but at the end of the day its only what Vista should have been.  Don’t get me wrong I also love it but I want more.  Have Microsoft really pushed the boundaries since Windows 95?  Think of the jump they took going from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, the concept of a “Desktop” that’s a big step.  I want the same from Microsoft now, I want a Windows platform that you carry around in your skin literally.  That’s a leap!

Another few Operating systems to consider over Windows 7.

Open Suse 11 -- Potentially my favourite Linux operating system but damn do they make it hard to get in to.  There’s not the greatest support for open suse, so although its powerful and reliable its hard to get use to.
Ubuntu -- Easier to use than Suse and has a huge support structure.  Its the best OS for beginner Linux users or for those that find suse unnecessarily hard.  One problem is the superuser usage. There is none and pretty much every command needs sudo before hand.  Adding su would be nice but it takes away the easy use Ubuntu focuses on.
Windows XP -- Wasn’t the finest Operating system but it has flourished into the fastest OS to date.  With SP3 Windows XP is faster than Vista, Microsoft are really stupid if they expect people to change with this being the way it is.-
MAC OS X -- brilliant operating system but sometimes its focusing more on the “oooooo thats nice looking” rather than the practibility and usability.  A good example is the jumping icon when you start a program.
Windows Vista -- Don’t go for this option no matter what.  I have to use this in work and its nothing but trouble.  On Thursday my work laptop could not but Windows after some update.  Even when the OS works you have to constantly remind the system about stupid things for instance, you want to copy a file to the C drive you get 4 warnings saying are you sure you want to do this you need admin rights, of course I want to do it why the fuck wouldn’t I I’m the god damn admin!

Anyway enough OS talking….

I have found the commercial that Mark and myself fell about the place laughing at whilst in America.  In Florida there is a channel focused purely on adverts (seems that way anyway) and there was one advertising to sell your scrap gold for money.  Its a weird ad and idea but as soon as it got to this auld one we broke our sides laughing.

Also heres an article on Cash 4 Gold.

And finally…Le Nord has been added to my links, I believe this to be Emma or Carland, I’m not sure to be honest but lets address the one thing that matters.

How Come I’m link number 5 and Gaff (who doesn’t blog) is number 1.  I’m outraged.
